“Corinne lives an average teenage life working at her dad’s cafe, hanging out with her best friend, and trying to forget a falling-out with her almost-boyfriend Mason.
Things take a strange turn when she uses her late grandmother’s food dyes for a bake sale, and her customers suddenly find her irresistibly alluring. Then she discovers she and Mason are haunted by the same dreams of a dark force that consumes everything in its path.
Pursued by shadowy figures and a crazy woman with secrets from the past, Corinne must find out who her grandmother really was. In her quest to unravel her family’s history, she learns she is destined to protect this world–and the dark world of her dreams. She races to find the answers she seeks before her nightmares break free.”
I bought this eBook after reading a couple of reviews, it seemed like my kind of story and I loved the gorgeous cover.
The story is fantastic, it is so imaginative and has a real mysterious feel to it, it is certainly different to anything else I’ve read before. I spent most of the time I was reading trying to guess what everything meant and I have to admit that my guesses were nowhere near correct. The unpredictability was something that I found refreshing about this book.
Aside from the cover there were many things that I loved about this story, Mason being one of them, he was a lovely and genuine character. His friendship with Corinne was great to read, they really had a special bond that I think (and hope) will continue to grow in the next book. I also loved the idea of the Pyxis, although it did take a while to figure out what it was all about and I will never think of dreams in the same way again!
This is another book with a huge cliffhanger ending (I’m really beginning to dislike those) and I can’t wait until the next instalment as I still have so many unanswered questions.
I thoroughly enjoyed this interesting and captivating story, it will definitely leave you wanting more.
