Pushing The Limits – Katie McGarry

Pushing the limits

“They say be a good girl, get good grades, be popular. They know nothing about me. I can’t remember the night that changed my life. The night I went from popular to loner freak. And my family are determined to keep it that way. They said therapy was supposed to help. They didn’t expect Noah. Noah is the dangerous boy my parents warned me about. But the only one who’ll listen. The only one who’ll help me find the truth. I know every kiss, every promise, every touch is forbidden. But what if finding your destiny means breaking all the rules? A brave and powerful novel about loss, change and growing up, but most of all love.”

I bought this book for my Kindle after hearing many great things about it and it certainly didn’t disappoint, in fact it surpassed all my expectations!

The scene that opened the story was Echo’s therapy session, it raised many questions and also gave me an intriguing view of her mind – she was not in a good place but seemed very likeable.  At this point I established that something serious had happened and I was keen to find out exactly what that was.  It was obvious that Echo had a problem with her father and his new wife, the tension between them was almost palpable, and there also seemed to be a big secret involving her mother.  The secret wasn’t revealed until quite near the end of the book so I found myself flying through the pages in order to find out what it was.

Now on to the love interest Noah, who was everything I had hoped he would be – he definitely had a bad boy attitude and the banter between him and Echo was great to read, I particularly liked how he called her his siren (it was impossible not to fall a little bit in love with his character).  The author has a great talent for creating sexual tension in her writing and I’m happy to say that this featured regularly throughout the book.

The thing that surprised me about Pushing The Limits was just how deep and meaningful it was, I was expecting the usual school/boyfriend issues with maybe a little bit of family drama thrown in and I got so much more.  I was floored by how much this story got to me – I certainly hadn’t expected to be crying over it!

This was a touching read with plenty of sexual tension, I would definitely recommend it.

Pushing The Limits is available to buy now from Amazon in paperback or Kindle edition.
